Key Considerations for Installing Copper Ground Rods
- Location selection: Keep the rods away from any obstructionS. Ensure that the ground rod is installed near the electrical panel to minimize the length of the grounding wire. This simplifies the connection and makes installation and maintenance easier.
- Depth: The ground rod should be minimum 8 feet long to reach the lower-resistance soil, which is approximately 8 feet deep.
- Connection: Use clamps for a secure connection. Clamps will provide a low-resistance connection to the ground rod.
- Multiple Rods: If the soil has high resistance, you should use multiple grounding rods to make sure you have an effective grounding system installed.
